Milagro Christian Church is committed to giving ourselves away in love to the community. But instead of telling people, we’d rather show them.
We’ve had so many questions about our monthly giveaways that we decided to record one as a podcast story, so people can get a better idea of what goes on for themselves.
It’s our hope that, some day, with enough people committed to this same vision of giving our faith communities away in love, that what we’re doing won’t be so remarkable in the near future. For now, we’ll just keep giving stuff away every month.
Got an idea of what we should give away next? Let us know at www.milagrocc.org.

A message about the most dangerous four-letter word in the English language. This is a sermon I offered at Milagro Christian Church in Pueblo Colorado and at Lee’s Summit Christian Church in Missouri, both in August.

This is the final episode of a three-part conversation between me an Brandon, Gilvin, my co-creator and co-editor of the WTF? (Where’s the Faith?) book series, coming in February from Chalice Press.
We talk about SPLIT TICKET, the second book in the series coming in fall, 2010, about faith and politics.
We also talk about the third book coming in the series, now titled YOU PEOPLE (in the show we call it a different name), about faith and race, and we preview potential working titles stretching into the future.
We wrap up by talking about what we’re looking for from prospective contributors and editors, and how you can find us. If you’ve thought about writing for this series, this is the show you have to check out.

Part two (of three) of my chat with my co-creator and co-editor of the WTF? (Where’s the Faith?) young adult books series. The focus in this episode is on the first book in the series, coming out in February, 2010 (Chalice Press) called Oh God, Oh God, OH GOD about faith, sex, sexuality and embodiment among young adults.
We also talk about the challenges, fun and risks involved in producing a potentially “controversial” series of books.

I spent some time recently in Kansas City with Brandon Gilvin, my co-editor and co-creator of the WTF? (Where’s the Faith?) book series with Chalice Press. The series focuses on issues of faith and “real life” that young adults contend with in today’s world.
In this first of three parts, we talked about some cultural markers that define many young adults, how someone ends up in ministry by choice, and the paths that brought us together as authors to develop the WTF? series.

I traveled recently to a church in Lee’s Summit, Missouri to help lead a fall kickoff festival for Lee’s Summit Christian Church (DOC). After leading workshops, meeting with leadership and preaching, I got a chance to offer a concert Sunday night to close out the weekend.
This podcast is an abbreviated version of that concert - edited for length - that includes both originals and cover songs, as well as a little bit of spoke word poetry. For my full music and spoken word downloadable recordings, visit www.christianpiatt.com.
Enjoy.

This podcast is taken from a chapter I wrote for a forthcoming book by Chalice Press called Oh God, Oh God, OH GOD! which deals with a wide range of topics on faith and sexuality. The book is due out February, 2010, and is the first volume in the new WTF? (Where’s the Faith?) book series focusing on young adults.
for more about the series, visit my website at www.christianpiatt.com, or hit the Chalice Press website (www.chalicepress.com) and click the WTF button at the bottom of the home page.

This is an adaptation of one of my wife, Amy’s recent messages about social justice and where people who claim a faith belong. Definitely worth sharing beyond our church walls.

You can find the whole CD on my website, or you can search my name in iTunes, Amazon or other MP3 download sites. But for now, here’s a free sample.
This is probably a favorite of mine right now. I wrote this about a year ago, and it continues to grow on me.
Enjoy.

Second half of my two-part interview with Josh Einsohn, Hollywood casting director and social activist. Josh founded www.AllOrNotAtAll.org in response to the passage of Proposition 8 in California. We talk about life in tinseltown, how his faith informed his worldview, and growing up a gay Jewish kid in the Texas Bible Belt.
